10/12/20 - Updates

Hey,

This is my first update since the store opened. We've been pretty busy setting up our backend as well our eBay store. Having that said, we've already served over 200 happy customers since late Aug via our eBay store.

In the last couple of weeks, we field tested the Ultra Light Level 3 plate that's made from UHMWPE. We hit it with 4 rounds of 5.56 M193, 2 rounds of 223 Hollow Points and 2 rounds of 7.62x51 M80. None of them penetrated the plate and the only significant backface deformation (~1") was from the 7.62 rounds that struck about 1.5" from each other. The 5.56 rounds only make about a 1/3" dent in the soft clay backing.

Having that done, we tried 2 rounds of 5.56 M855 (Green Tip) to see if it would qualify for Level 3+ (yes, we know it's not an official designation). But both went through and blew 2" holes in the clay (from hydrodynamic shock) but none of the bullet punched through the pine wood behind the clay. The bullets were flattened when they hit the wood and made ~1/4" deep dent in them.

The good thing is that all M193 bullets were stopped within 1/3 of the fibers and even after 2 of the 7.62, there were still 1/4 of the fiber unbroken. Unfortunately we forgot to take pictures of the clay :-(
